Named after Arctic Explorers and Bowdoin graduates Robert E. Peary and Donald B. MacMillan, the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum opened in 1967. Consisting of all things Arctic from expedition equipment and photographs to natural history specimens and contemporary Inuit art, this museum is the only one in the lower 48 states of the USA that is completely dedicated to Arctic studies.

The “At Home in the North” collection aims to portray to visitors the home where Inuit families have lived and thrived for many years – and still do today, all while navigating the troubles caused by colonialism and the rising threat of global warming.

Inside one of the three Portal showcases that Click Netherfield created for this collection is the Hubbard Sledge, the sledge that carried Peary to the North Pole in 1909.
